The opportunity: Design for DRYFT

Do you want to see your designs transforming commercial spaces worldwide? We are expanding our in-house design engineering team to create the next generation of industry-leading DRYFT commercial cleaning machines.

Google us, look at our product range, and see the impact you could make. While your contract will be held by the engineering powerhouse DEXTRON Technology, your daily mission is 100% focused on designing and scaling the DRYFT product line. You get the excitement, brand visibility, and fast-paced environment of working on a premier commercial brand, backed by extensive on-site resources.

In this role, you will be working on an exciting range of products which are built around our innovative core-ion battery ecosystem. We work at serious pace here, aiming to release a new machine every 6-12 months—meaning you will see your concepts turn into real-world products faster than almost anywhere else.

Why this role is unique

  • Everything Under One Roof: Go from initial idea to mass production in one place. You will have direct access to state-of-the-art in-house prototyping facilities (top-of-the-range 3D printers, CNC machines) and our own on-site injection moulding facilities.

  • True Ownership: Move DRYFT products from raw concept to fully proven, high-volume machine prototypes.

  • Cutting-Edge Tech: Work daily with cutting-edge CAD software and top-of-the-range 3D printers.

  • Complex Engineering: This is not just styling. You will design intricate internal part architectures, integrating motors, electronics, and PCBs.

What you will do

  • Concept & Prototyping: Develop new DRYFT product concepts, utilizing physical mock-ups, 3D printing, and sketching.

  • Advanced CAD Modelling: Utilize SolidWorks for parametric top-down modelling, complex surface modelling, shelling, and managing large assemblies.

  • Design for Manufacture (DFM): Design robust parts for injection moulding, die casting, and high-volume production.

  • Production & Refinement: Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure efficient production. Manage tooling adjustments, conduct sample inspections, and apply GD&T to drawings.

  • Continuous Innovation: Re-engineer existing DRYFT product lines for maximum performance and consumer appeal.

  • Design for ergonomics: Considering the user interaction via touchpoints; clips, catches, grips and controls.

  • Design for reliability: Ensuring parts and assemblies are designed to last.

  • Integration of technology; Designing parts and assemblies to work seamlessly with motors, electronics and mechanisms.

What we are looking for

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Design Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Experience: Around 5 years of product development experience, taking products from concept to high-volume production.

  • CAD Mastery: Extensive SolidWorks experience (including part/assembly configurations, evaluation, and top-down modelling).

  • Technical Skills: Proven ability in mechanical problem-solving, ergonomics, and designing internal architecture for motorized/electronic components.

  • Advanced Modelling: Expertise in high-quality SolidWorks surfacing and Sub-D Modelling.

Beneficial skills (but not critical)

  • CAD Data Management: Experience using 3DExperience PDM file management.

  • Simulation: Proven ability to run structural part simulations.

  • Interface Design: Experience with Human Machine Interface (HMI) design.

What we offer you

  • Competitive salary (£32k - £45k)

  • Ongoing professional development opportunities

  • A dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced design studio environment

  • Additional annual leave

  • On-site parking

So why join DRYFT?

You will be joining at a pivotal stage in the company’s growth, helping shape a fast-expanding range of products designed to increase speed, improve efficiency and raise expectations across the commercial cleaning industry.

With DRYFT Core-ion powering our future machines and a clear ambition to launch new products every 6 to 12 months, this is a rare opportunity to work in an environment where invention moves quickly.

You will work on patented, British-engineered technology with a team focused on agility, precision and relentless innovation. You will have the freedom to solve real engineering challenges, the facilities to build and test quickly, and the opportunity to see your work move from concept to production.
